Magnotta Winery Leads Battle Against Lyme Disease

VAUGHAN, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 1, 2007) - Magnotta Winery Corporation (TSX:MGN) is pioneering a long-term initiative to inform, educate, build awareness and raise funds in support of the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation (CanLyme). Appropriately, the month of May is Lyme Disease awareness month.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by the bite of a tick and is affecting millions of people worldwide. One of the top ten misdiagnosed diseases in the world, when properly diagnosed and treated early Lyme disease is curable, however when misdiagnosed and not treated it can become severely disabling.

Lyme disease has been found in all of Canada's provinces, and with global warming, will only continue to spread. Canada is years behind in research, diagnosis and treatment. To launch Magnotta's long-term campaign to support Canlyme, Magnotta has released a 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve VQA with proceeds of sales going directly to support the foundation. The prevalence of Lyme Disease is increasing rapidly, and Magnotta is committed to ensuring that the proper funds, awareness, and education exist to properly manage the threat.

"It is our hope that by taking action along with doctors, researchers, government agencies and other advocates we can help save families from the pain and suffering caused by Lyme disease," says Rossana Magnotta, Co-founder and President, Magnotta Winery Corporation.
